Sunken Forrest, Denmark

2010

Laura created Sunken Forrest as a site specific piece.

Inspired by the sunken coastline off Bray Head (Ireland) she fantasised about a giant shell or shard of a lost ship that might have been washed up and stranded, balancing on the bare trunks of a petrified wood.

Her client was located on the coast of Denmark – to her surprise – on the grounds of an old Laminating Factory and the Sunken Forrest was very appropriate.

It is 3m high made of rough black clay and white porcelain slip and supported by a steel substructure.
